Hey! This doesn't look like a full-fledged FAQ to me! You're right. It's just an SH3 fan page I put together, with some essential information - nothing at all like my popular Operation Flashpoint FAQ. But don't despair! You can find
tons of SH3 information in
The SH3
Community Manual.
The Community
Manual is an open, collaborative document, constantly being updated by
people in the know within the SH3 player community. You don't need no stinkin'
FAQ! The
Community Manual has got it all. Are there any SH3 forums? Sure. The best, in my opinion,
is
at SubSim. Of course,
SH3's publisher,
Ubisoft, hosts
the
official SH3 forum. There's also an SH3 forum at
SimHQ but it's not very
active. There are also a number of non-English SH3 forums. Check the list of
forums on the "Links & Resources" page in The
Community Manual to see what's available. Is there a way to increase SH3's display resolution beyond 1024x768? Yes. I play at 1920x1200
myself. Search
The Community Manual for "display resolution" and see whether your Windows
version qualifies to maximize SH3's resolution to your monitor's. Where can I download SH3 mods and missions from? The most comprehensive SH3
download site is U-Boot.RealSimulation.com.
Just click on the "SH3 Downloads" button on their site's left-hand menu. Does The Avon Lady make her own mods and missions? I never was a mod maker but I have begun dabbling in SH3 mission making. My first mission, Royal Flush, has received some positive reviews from the player community. I've also started a concept called Reenacted U-boat Missions, or RUM for short. You can learn all about RUM from The Community Manual's RUM Missions page. There's even an initial RUM mission, which I created, that you can download from there. I'll post a list of my missions here if and when I create more. Stay tuned! Are there any SH3 teams, leagues, or squads? Yes. I'm personally an active
member of Wolves At War.
More teams are listed on the "Links & Resources" page in The
Community Manual. Place yourself on the SH3 Players Map at Frappr! You won't become famous but
please take a moment to go over to the
SH3 Players Map
and add your map pin for the rest of the SH3 international community to see. The Avon Lady's list of installed SH3 mods (last updated on February 8, 2006) Below is a list of the SH3 mods that I currently have installed. The order in which they are listed is the order they are installed in. This is important, as some mods override files supplied by previously installed mods. I use the JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler utility (commonly known by its initials as JSGME) to install all my mods. I highly recommend that you do the same. I try to keep my mod file links below up-to-date with the latest version available for each mod but I cannot guarantee it. Nevertheless, everything listed is working to my satisfaction. The files below are in ZIP, 7Z and RAR formats. 7Z files can be created and extracted with 7-Zip. The latest version of WinRAR can also extract all of these file formats. All of the files I mirror are hosted at FileFront. Once or twice in a blue moon, FileFront's servers are down or have the hiccups. In which case, as the Wizard of Oz used to say: "come back tomorrow."
I also use SH3 Commander v2.4, plus the optional but highly recommended SH3 Commander v2.4 Ship Skins Pack. SH3 Commander is great! It can be installed anywhere on your hard drive. It does NOT need to be installed in SH3's installation folder. As always, read the documentation that comes with all of these mods. If you have a problem with a mod, contact the mod maker, not me, please.
